Blog: The Truth Revealed: Are Robots Capable of Love?
Throughout modern history we have seen multiple accounts and representations of the emotional capacity of artificial intelligence robots. From the solemn loyalty of R2D2 and Wall-e to Andrew’s sentience in Bicentennial Man, a vast amount of people have speculated about the ability of robots to feel love and happiness, or more concerningly, anger and hate.
But is it really possible? Is there evidence to suggest that AI can experience emotion? And, if so, what does this mean for the future of human interaction with the AI ‘species’?
Luckily, we do not have to wait long for these answers? A university group called Sydney Business Insights, operating out of the University of Sydney Business School, have recently announced a research-based web series where they plan to explore the questions people want to know about AI robotics.
Save the date: On July 2nd, Sydney Business Insights will be streaming the first ever live date with a robot via their Facebook page. To keep updated about the event you can follow the Facebook event here.
