“The notion of singularity — which includes the idea that AI will supersede humans with its exponential growth, making everything we humans have done and will do insignificant — is a religion created mostly by people who have designed and successfully deployed computation to solve problems previously considered impossibly complex for machines. Instead of thinking about machine intelligence in terms of humans vs machines, we should consider the system that integrates humans and machines — not artificial intelligence but extended intelligence.”
Words have meaning, I agree. But are we not debating too much about wording?
I simply consider Artificial intelligence to be a field of technological research. It’s broad, it’s vague. Using these terms doesn’t mean we already or will have within 10 years, an #artificialgeneralintelligence that takes control and enslaves us.
I do really like the term #extendedintelligence though. Which really describes what most AI-powered solutions bring today, they assist by giving insight and valuable information in our decision processes & data processing faculties.
